I was so thrilled when both JM and TGM were able to go to yesterday's appointment with me, which meant they got to hear the heartbeat for the first time! TGM gave a smile when we told her she was listening to the baby's heartbeat. I think she is still coming to understand what all this means.
Beta's heart was beating away at about 146bpm. I'd gained about 4 pounds--up to 121. The midwife declared that everything seemed healthy and normal!
They did do a repeat blood draw at the appointment. The platelet count from the previous blood draw had come back slightly below normal. Until the results come back again, they will assume that it was an error/miscount. Based on Internet articles I've read today, as long as this is just something that is occurring during the pregnancy and doesn't drop drastically below normal, it would not be expected to impact Beta's health and they likely wouldn't do anything in the way of treatment.
I did get the referral to schedule the 20 wk ultrasound and that will hopefully get done soon.
