Baby Shower

I was surprised at work today with a baby shower!

A week or so ago, I'd received a notice regarding an Academic Affairs Team meeting for Wednesday of this week. Knowing that such meetings would be few and far between for the summer, I went ahead and changed my midwife appointment (to Friday), so I could make it to the meeting.

The meetings are normally held in the Library Conference Room. But by a few minutes after the announced time, no one had come through the library and I was starting to wonder if the meeting had been cancelled. Then Vickie (new librarian) received a call that the meeting had been moved to the board room. (Dorothy called Vickie instead of me? I didn't really think about it.) As we left, Dolores said, "See you in a few minutes." I thought, "It'll be more like an hour," but didn't say anything or think too much about it.

When we got to the board room, there were gifts on the table in front of a chair with balloons attached to it and food spread out on the counter. What a surprise!

There were about 10 people there, all from Academic Affairs. I (and Beta) received some wonderful gifts, including a beautiful, white, hand-knitted baby blanket.

Thanks to my friends at work for providing me with such a wonderful surprise and support!
