For the last week, I've been with my family in Kansas. It's the first time most of them have seen me since we first announced the pregnancy at Christmas time.
I've been enjoying their reactions to my changed shape. Dorinda kept saying I was "cute." One of Mom's first comments is that I now hug differently. Mom, Susan, and Lucinda met me at the airport and made comments about hardly recognizing me.
I've also been trying to let them feel Beta move when she's being active. I've heard multiple times with various intonations, "There's a baby in there." Dad said it as a simple confirmation of fact, but with pride in his voice. Dorinda and Susan said it with excitement and wonder. Grandma Gates recalled how when she was pregnant with her oldest child, she was at a graduation ceremony and a kick from the baby shoved the program right off her lap.
