Midwife's Report @ 40 Weeks

Today was the last of my previously scheduled appointments with the midwives. Obviously there was a chance that I would deliver prior to this date and wouldn't even need this appointment. But, Beta is still neatly tucked inside, so I visited the midwife again today.

My weight remains at 147. Beta had not been particularly active this afternoon and her heartrate was only in the upper 140's today. The midwife would like to see Beta's back move to be a bit more front and center, rather than along my left side. She just encouraged me to use gravity in sleeping positions and such to try to encourage that direction of shift.

In the cervical check, she estimated that I was a solid 1 cm dialated and about 50% effaced, which would indicate progress toward delivery since my visit last Wednesday. But still, nothing to say that labor and delivery are absolutely imminent.

I left with a series of appointments schedule over the next 10 days or so. Wednesday afternoon, I'm scheduled for a sonogram in the midwife's office to check the amniotic fluid level. Sunday afternoon I'm scheduled for a non-stress test at the Birthing Inn. Next Monday morning, I'm scheduled for another midwife appointment. Thursday, August 13 is the "must out" date. Of course, any or all of these appointments could be pre-empted by the arrival of Beta.
