Due Date

Well, today is the official due date, according to the midwife's calculations and records. It has come and almost gone without a baby arriving. I can't say I'm surprised. In fact, I know I would've been surprised and unprepared if Beta had decided to arrive today or earlier. I can't say that I'm prepared yet, but I am starting to get a bit more serious about knowing I need to be getting prepared.

Jesse has finished painting the nursery. The crib is put together, though at the moment, it's filled with stuff and shoved out of the way for the painting. We also have a bassinet that has been loaned to us that we can/should put together.

I don't have a bag packed for going to the birthing inn. But Jesse figures that I should have time to do that once contractions start, but before they get serious. Unfortunately, not everything can wait until then, so I should get a few more things done around the house before then.

Jer's room is a bit of a mess. If we are going to have company staying there in the next week or so, it has to get cleaned up and arranged a bit better. (Not to mention washing the sheets.) The beds in the other room also need sheets put on them, so they might be ready for company.

Plans are being made at this point, even without a definite arrival date for Beta. Dorinda and Greg will be staying with us on Thursday evening before they head out to a work retreat. My parents and Lucinda could be arriving as early as Saturday or Sunday. Dorinda and Greg will be back in the area by Monday afternoon and will stay until Tuesday afternoon. They won't be disappointed if they get a chance to hold Baby Beta before they leave. Jesse's parents are available to arrive anytime after Sunday. Since the midwives were looking at an induction date around the 13th, we've already contacted Pastor Ray about holding a baby dedication on Sunday, August 16. That looks like about the only weekend that both sets of grandparents will be in town after the baby's arrival.
