Big Sister

I think TGM is starting to connect with Beta. Last week she got to feel him/her move a couple of times.

The first time, she was watching a video next to me on the couch when Beta started moving. I held her hand on my belly and Beta gave her a nice big thump. I told her that was Beta. She grunted and never took her eyes off the video, so I wasn't sure how much of an impression it made. But when I asked her to tell Daddy at supper what Beta had done, she promptly remembered that he had thumped her.

Since that time, she has asked to feel Beta several times. When s/he is not active, I tell her Beta is sleeping. She has taken up asking me how Beta is doing before asking to feel now.

Last week, she asked me several times, "Do you know that every single person has a name?" (I think it comes from a word book she has.) Another time we had this conversation:
TGM: What's the baby's name?
C: We don't know. What do you think it should be?
TGM: It's a girl.
C: If it's a girl, what should her name be?
TGM: Aria!


Aria is one of her best friends who is moving overseas in a month, so her pick is precious in that sense. I also found it ironic in that we have considered Carol as a middle name, which with Aria would make for a bit of redundancy in the meaning of the name--something we already have with TGM's name.


As an added note, our family (missing Jer) went hiking and camping with the church this past weekend. Well, Jesse and TGM went hiking. Beta and I drove the camping gear to the camp site and then met the rest of the group as they came in from the hike. So Beta has now officially been camping at Bear's Den!
