Last week, we had our mid-term ultrasound. They usually aim to do it at 20 weeks, but as that was the week we were in Kansas, I was closer to 22 weeks by the time it could be scheduled.
I was so happy Jesse was able to be there for the appointment. We left TGM playing with friends.
Since I was pregnant with TGM, they added a prenatal testing center at Lansdowne Hospital--the same location as the Birthing Inn where we deliver. So the location was much closer and easier than with TGM's mid-term ultrasound.
There were a lot of differences with the different location and different technician, including a lot less time spent pointing out the various features and parts and less than 25 minutes spent in the ultrasound portion.
Everything showed up healthy, though all their measurements for size--skull, abdomen, and femur--came back on the large size. The femur measured in the 95th percentile--guess where this little guy gets his legs?!
Yes, the technician declared that we are definitely having a boy! Which Jesse has claimed to know since I was about 6 weeks along. :-)
Speaking with the doctor there at the testing center, he recommended sticking with the 21st as the due date. That would still put Beta in the 84th percentile for size, but between us, there didn't seem to be any justification for using the 23rd. If they were setting the due date based solely on size at the this ultrasound, they would've set it for 12/12/12. We'll see when this little one arrives!
Of course, now everyone is asking about name. We are still talking about options.
