I had my second appointment with the midwife practice yesterday afternoon.
At the first appointment, I got to meet Anne. That appointment was mostly an introduction, getting basic information, answering questions. She confirmed that the onset of pregnancy symptoms matched with what I was giving for the date of my last menstrual cycle and that I have a history of being regular, so she was comfortable with setting an early August due date without having to do a sonogram. They weighed me as 115 at that appointment.
At yesterday's appointment, we got to meet Wendy. They weighed me at 119. (Jesse weighed himself and thought that it weighed him about 15 pounds heavier than normal. I find this very interesting, considering I usually claim around 125 and haven't lost weight.)
I was VERY happy that Jesse was able to make this appointment, as we got to hear the baby's heartbeat for the very first time! "Just like a little train," as Wendy put it. The heartbeat pulse was registering in the high 150's/low 160's, according to her instrument.
Jesse didn't stick around while Wendy did a complete physical exam. Everything appears normal. She didn't identify any physical abnormalities that could cause potential birthing problems.
I don't have another appointment for another 4 weeks.

Now you've got me curious. I'm need to find a scale I can weigh myself without my heavy leather jacket, shoes, and jeans. I could have mis-estimated their weight and they weigh more than I think they do. Or, I might need to get back into working out more often.
