I had another visit to the midwife today.
I had gained 10 pounds since my last visit four weeks ago!! That puts me at 129. I didn't think to ask the midwife about that specifically. Since I hadn't gained anything the previous four weeks, I think it averages out to be about the weight gain they would've expected. Just gaining it all in four weeks is a bit unnerving to think about. The nurse did ask specifically about any swelling (which I have not experienced) immediately after taking my weight, so I think that might've been an indicator if the weight gain was a sign of a problem.
Blood pressure was normal.
They had me do another sterile urine sample (plastic container with a lid they can send to the lab, rather than a open cup that they just test there at the office). The midwife mentioned that the last lab results had come back indicating a contaminant in the sample, so they wanted to test again. But didn't seem really worried.
The midwife confirmed that the sonogram had shown everything to be normal. She wrote on my charts that we are having a "surprise," since we didn't find out the gender at the sonogram.
The midwife measured the fundal height for the first time and measured it at 21 cm.
Getting a reading on the heartbeat was a bit challenging, blamed on movement of Beta. The midwife would get the heartbeat for a couple of seconds and then it would fade out. A readjustment would bring the heartbeat back for a couple of seconds before being muffled again. In the moments that it could be heard, it was in the mid 140's.
I measured my waist last night at 31.5".
Since Wednesday last week, I've had someone comment everyday that I'm starting to show. These are all people that see me regularly, so I don't think I'm obvious to strangers yet, but my clothes are definitely fitting differently.
